Eaglet excitement crashes Game Commission livestream
POSTED: 03/24/15, 1:26 PM EDT
Did you have trouble viewing York County’s eagle camera this morning? You’re not alone.
The Internet was aflutter after the first of two eggs in the Hanover-area nest hatched early March 24, temporarily crashing the livestream, said Travis Lau, spokesman for the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Viewers received error messages when trying to view the stream on both the game commission’s website and that of HDOnTap, which built the camera overlooking the nest. The game commission, which commissioned the camera above the nest in December, revoked other sites’ ability to embed the stream earlier this month.
Lau said he did not know much about the cause of the crash beyond the fact that it was related to the number of people accessing the stream.
