Determine suitable camera location

Finding the right camera location is the first step.  Look for a safe, sturdy (no vibrations) location that can be safely accessed when the camera needs to be cleaned, but high enough to get the desired views.

Power source choices

Reliable power source means a reliable camera. Clean Power is very important.  We suggest incorporating a small uninterruptible power supply (UPS) if possible to protect the camera system from power spikes and other issues. Using 220/110AC power or low voltage 24VAC are popular choices. Photo voltaic power system are often not a reliable choice.

Choosing camera hardware

HD cameras are now available in Pan Tilt Zoom or Fixed. Some of the more advanced camera cost a little more but this usually means they will perform better in low light and have a greater depth of field. Camera setup

Internet connection

An unshared, dedicated connection for the camera is recommended to ensure proper transmission using H.264 encoding.  We recommend using an ISP company that supplies more than 1Mbps or greater upload.  Most DSL, Cable and even wireless can help set this up to your location. Please ask them for a static IP address since this will allow your HD camera system to have the highest degree of reliability.
